The Charity Leonard Cheshire, state that 250,000 people have to sleep in their living rooms or wash in their kitchens.
Derek Thomas said "Currently, we are failing to provide the disabled-friendly homes the UK needs. The petition is asking that new homes are built to Lifetime Home Standards, and that at least 1 in 10 new homes are fully wheelchair accessible. I know, as someone who works in the construction industry, that this presents a challenge to house builders. However, I personally know individuals whose lives are made unacceptably difficult because they can not get a home that caters for their needs because of their disability."
St Teresa's, in Long Rock is a home, with nursing care, providing a range of services for adults with physical disabilities.
