The scheme to bring fibre-based superfast broadband to 99 per cent of premises across the county will help many of the five per cent of Cornish residents and businesses not included in the current Superfast Cornwall scheme.
And on the railways, there will be investment in lounges and changing facilities in Penzance, Truro and Paddington to help passengers using the sleeper service.
The news was warmly welcomed by Derek Thomas, the Conservative candidate for St Ives, who said: “This deal, that will deliver broadband to pretty much every part of West Cornwall, enables us to create further technology-based businesses and makes the far South West an attractive place to relocate a business.
“Furthermore, by improving rail services it reinforces the message that we are open for busniess"
