Derek said, 'Now that Cornwall is represented entirely by Conservative MP's we have the unique opportunity and responsibility to work collectively in Cornwall's best interest. Already it is clear that Cornwall has a strong voice in Westminster and I intend to use this advantage.'
Since being elected last month all six Cornish MP's have communicated regularly, discussing pressing subjects such as the Cornwall stadium, RCHT and changes to constituency boundaries.
Derek added 'Our discussions are encouraging for me in particular, as they largely covered the priorities I set out during the election campaign. We talked of the challenges facing us in relation to health and social care and the need to focus resources in this area. Continued improvements and further investment in transport were covered including the creation of new skilled jobs on the railway, in Penzance.
There are exciting times ahead and there is a commitment across our Cornish team that we work together to ensure the people of Cornwall get the very best possible deal from this Government.'
