Pictured here are members of St Ives Conservative Women’s Organisation, on a recent trip to visit MP, Derek Thomas at the Houses of Parliament. The group were given a very interesting guided tour of the Palace of Westminster and were able to spend an hour in the Special Public Gallery, listening to a debate on proposed changes to the Police and Crime Bill. We very much appreciated the time our MP spent with us in his busy schedule – he had to keep dashing off to vote when the antiquated system of bells called for all the MP’s from every corner of Westminster to get into the Commons! He was happy to discuss any subject and it was good to hear that outside of the referendum agenda, daily life in the party is ‘business as usual’ – we are running the country after all! Derek made everyone feel extremely welcome and we finished off the day with dinner in the Barry Room Brasserie, under the House of Lords.
Derek has invited us to return next year, so if you were unable to come this time round, watch this space!
